Lillian Gusmano

Lillian's Story

First
It started with muscle cramping
Then
A movement of my hand
Then
Some slurring of my speech
Then
A change in the way I walk

Now
I have been diagnosed with
Amotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease)
A horrific neuromuscular degenerative disease
that destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord

Now
I can't walk
I can't swallow
I can't speak
I can't dress myself
I can't move my lips to kiss you

But
I can still do the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle
After all these years there is still
No Cure or treatment for ALS
We need a cure TODAY!!
FOR YOU
YOUR FAMILY
and YOUR GRANDCHILDREN
